Key point — TrueMoney (under Ascend Money) and Visa now let users link a Visa credit or debit card to the TrueMoney app and use it as the funding source for scanning to pay QR PromptPay at participating merchants — the first time a Visa card pays via QR PromptPay directly on TrueMoney, now live nationwide.
Why it matters — Thais are already deeply attached to scan-to-pay. 2024 DataReportal data shows 61.5% of Thai internet users 16 and older scan a QR code every month, the third-highest rate in the world. Adding Visa cards as a funding source builds on existing habit rather than requiring new behavior from scratch.
What you get — Link a Visa card and scan to pay for the first time, minimum 100 baht per transaction at a participating merchant, get 30 baht cashback through December 31, 2026, limited to 1 redemption per user. Through September 30, 2026, scanning to pay QR PromptPay via Visa or other channels enters a chance to win a gold necklace, cashback, and TrueMoney Coin worth a combined over 6 million baht, up to 10 entries per user per month, claimed via an in-app notification after a successful payment.
