watchOS 27 arrives — Siri gets its own app for the first time, adds a Tap gesture, but permanently drops Walkie-Talkie

Key point — watchOS 27 has launched, giving Siri its own app for the first time, adding a new Tap gesture, but permanently removing the Walkie-Talkie app, while also supporting older Apple Watch models.

Why it matters — Giving Siri dedicated space with cross-device sync aligns with the Siri AI direction Apple is also pushing in iOS 27. Cutting Walkie-Talkie, despite its popularity, shows Apple is willing to sacrifice old features to move new ones forward.

Worth watching — The App Switcher's return in watchOS 27.2 later this year, and the Live Rewind feature, limited to just Series 12 and Ultra 4.
